A Zeiss Observer Z1 fluorescence microscope is equipped with an Abberior Instruments STEDYCON unit for confocal and super-resolution STED microscopy. The STED and confocal optics contain excitation laser lines: 405 nm (cw), 488nm, 561nm, 640nm (all pulsed) and a STED laser: 775nm (pulsed). The Superior STED resolution is <40nm, typically 30nm (lateral, depending on dyes and objectives used). The microscope further allows live cell imaging. Features include an incubation chamber to control temperature, humidity and CO2 for time-lapse experiments.
